Jeweler's Basics® - Grounded Hemostats for Permanent Jewelry & Micro Welding
Locking Hemostats/Forceps are great for holding links and jump rings when welding them for permanent jewelry. These 6.25" or 4.75" long, grounded hemostats have smooth jaws, unlike the serrated jaws of traditional hemostats. Using serrated jaws, most often damages jump rings and links by scratching them and leaving indents. This is why we only recommend and only sell smooth jawed grounded hemostats.
These hemostats are supplied with a 1.5m long, 16-gauge copper replaceable wire. Being this heavier gauge, provides for a stronger wire being less likely to break and it allows for maximum current to travel through it giving you a better weld than finer wire. The grounding wire is attached to the hemostats via a lug that is welded on for maximum strength and best conductivity.
