General Questions

Q – What should I look for when purchasing an outdoor field monitor?

A – Four factors are especially important.

1. Brightness

Brightness is the single most important specification for outdoor use.

Look for a display rated at 1,000 nits or brighter. Most indoor monitors are only 250–400 nits and become difficult to see in daylight.

Every DeployView™ 16 features a 1200-nit daylight-readable display.

2. Power

A truly portable field monitor should have an integrated battery.

Choose a system with enough battery capacity to operate at least twice as long as you expect to need.

Unexpected mission extensions happen frequently.

3. Size

Larger displays make it much easier for observers and command staff to monitor live video.

However, larger screens consume more power and require additional storage space.

The DeployView™ 16 balances portability with excellent viewing size.

4. Resolution

Most drone controllers output 1080p video, so brightness is generally more important than resolution outdoors.

However, the DeployView™ 16 uses a 3840 × 2400 (4K UHD) display, making it excellent for:

  • Phone mirroring
  • Computer monitors
  • Video playback
  • General field computing

Q – How long will the battery last?

A – Runtime depends on the selected model.

Model Battery Typical Runtime
DeployView™ 16 Standard 256Wh 15–16 hours
DeployView™ 16 Plus 256Wh 15–16 hours
DeployView™ 16 Air 179Wh 10–12 hours
DeployView™ 16 Air Plus 179Wh 10–12 hours
DeployView™ 16 Max 512Wh 30+ hours

Actual runtime varies depending on:

  • Display brightness
  • Connected devices
  • USB charging
  • Ambient temperature
  • Battery age

Q – Are the batteries removable?

A – No.

All DeployView™ 16 battery systems are internally installed and are not intended to be removed during normal operation.

Q – Can I carry a DeployView™ 16 on a commercial airline?

A – It depends on the model.

The DeployView™ 16 Air and DeployView™ 16 Air Plus were specifically designed with airline travel in mind by using a lower-capacity battery configuration.

The DeployView™ 16 Standard, DeployView™ 16 Plus, and DeployView™ 16 Max use larger battery systems that generally exceed passenger-aircraft lithium battery limits.

Airline and international regulations can vary and may change, so always verify current requirements with your airline before traveling.

Q – Can I mirror my phone or tablet onto the DeployView™ 16?

A – Yes, if your device supports external video output.

You can connect using:

  • USB-C video
  • USB-C to HDMI adapter or cable

Not all phones and tablets support video output, so check your device specifications.

Q – Can I wirelessly connect my drone controller?

A – Yes.

Many operators use a wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver. This allows:

  • Greater pilot mobility
  • Reduced trip hazards from cables
  • Easier maintenance of visual line of sight

Q – Is the screen bright enough for direct sunlight?

A – Yes.

Every DeployView™ 16 uses a 1200-nit daylight-readable display, making it well suited for bright outdoor environments.

Q – Why is brightness more important than resolution for outdoor use?

A – Outdoors, brightness determines whether you can actually see the image.

A high-resolution display that is too dim can still be difficult to use in sunlight. The DeployView™ 16 combines a bright 1200-nit display with 3840 × 2400 resolution.

Q – Is the DeployView™ 16 waterproof?

A – No.

The protective case is IP65 rated when closed, helping protect the system from dust and water exposure during transportation and storage.

When the case is open and the system is operating, it is not sealed and should be protected from rain and excessive moisture.

Q – What type of battery does the DeployView™ 16 use?
