Combine greater cutting reach, high blade tension, fast blade changes, and 360° blade positioning with the Knew Concepts 5" Mk.IV Heavy Duty Fret Saw with Lever Tension and Swivel Blade Clamps. Designed for jewelers, metalsmiths, and precision craftspeople, this premium saw offers the deeper reach of a 5" frame while allowing the blade to rotate independently of the frame for greater freedom around larger or more complex workpieces.

The rigid Mk.IV frame is designed to apply 50–60 pounds of blade tension, helping reduce blade vibration for controlled, responsive sawing. Its cam-lever tensioning system makes repetitive blade changes quick and convenient, especially during intricate piercing work.

What sets the 124.005CS apart is its swivel blade clamp system. The blade can rotate through a full 360° with click stops every 45°, allowing you to change the cutting direction while repositioning the frame for better clearance around the workpiece.

5" Throat for Greater Cutting Reach

The 5-inch throat gives this saw additional reach compared with the compact 3" Mk.IV.

That extra clearance is useful when working with:

  • Larger pendants
  • Cuffs and bracelets
  • Decorative sheet metal
  • Larger pierced patterns
  • Sculptural jewelry components
  • Deep interior cuts
  • Model-making projects
  • Precision fabrication

For jewelers who frequently reach the back of a conventional 3" saw frame, the 5" configuration provides substantially more working room.

360° Swivel Blade Clamps

The swivel clamps are what make the 124.005CS fundamentally different from the standard 124.005C.

Knew Concepts' Mk.IV swivel system allows the blade to rotate through a complete 360°, with indexed positions every 45°.

Instead of always having the saw frame directly behind the direction of the cut, you can change the blade orientation and reposition the frame.

This gives you more freedom when working around:

  • Larger sheets
  • Long workpieces
  • Awkward shapes
  • Complex pierced patterns
  • Obstructions around the bench
  • Magnification equipment

More Freedom on Larger Workpieces

Throat depth normally limits how far a conventional jeweler's saw can travel into a workpiece.

The 5" frame already provides greater reach, but the swivel clamps add another level of flexibility.

By changing the blade orientation relative to the frame, you can position the frame where it has clearance while keeping the blade aligned with the desired cutting path.

For jewelers and metalsmiths working with larger sheet material, this combination of 5" throat depth and swivel blade positioning is the real reason to choose the CS version.

Heavy-Duty Mk.IV Frame

The Mk.IV is designed to provide a stronger, more rigid sawing platform than Knew Concepts' lighter Mk.III design.

It is engineered to pull approximately 50–60 pounds of tension on the blade, which Knew Concepts says results in less blade vibration than its Mk.III saws.

That gives the blade a firm, responsive feel when following fine layout lines, cutting curves, or working through intricate pierced designs.

Fast Cam-Lever Blade Changes

Piercing often requires repeated blade removal and reinstallation.

The cam-lever tensioning system simplifies that process. Flip the lever forward to release tension, reposition and clamp the blade, then return the lever to its cutting position. The tension setting remains consistent when the blade is reset.

That's especially useful when a single design contains numerous interior openings.

Built for Intricate Piercing

The combination of lever tensioning and swivel blade clamps makes the 124.005CS particularly capable for detailed piercing.

The lever simplifies repeated blade changes, while the swivel clamps let you position the frame more conveniently around the work.

It's an excellent choice for:

  • Pierced pendants
  • Cuffs and bracelets
  • Decorative metal panels
  • Intricate sheet-metal designs
  • Filigree-style patterns
  • Sculptural jewelry
  • Complex interior cutouts
  • Detailed metalsmithing

High Blade Tension for Controlled Sawing

The Mk.IV frame is designed for 50–60 pounds of blade tension.

Higher, consistent blade tension helps minimize unwanted vibration and gives the blade a more stable feel while sawing.

For precision work, that can make it easier to follow fine lines and navigate detailed patterns with confidence.

Aircraft-Grade Aluminum Frame

Despite the heavy-duty design and additional swivel hardware, the saw weighs only 228.3 grams with the blade installed.

Knew Concepts constructs the frame from powder-coated aircraft-grade aluminum, combining the rigidity required for high blade tension with substantially less weight than might be expected from a conventional heavy-duty saw frame.

Uses Standard Jeweler's Saw Blades

The 124.005CS accepts 130 mm / 5-1/8" fret and jeweler's saw blades, so it works with the standard blade format commonly used for precision sawing and jewelry work.

Knew Concepts also supplies the saw with a #7 Fix Blue premium fret saw blade already installed.

124.005CS vs. 124.005C

Feature 124.005C 124.005CS
5" Mk.IV Heavy Duty Frame Yes Yes
Cam-Lever Tension Yes Yes
Blade Tension 50–60 lb 50–60 lb
Swivel Blade Clamps No Yes
Blade Rotation Fixed 360°

Weight with Blade 214.3 g 228.3 g
Primary Advantage High-tension 5" frame High tension + directional flexibility

Knew Concepts lists the standard 124.005C at 214.3 g and the swivel-clamp 124.005CS at 228.3 g.

Choose 124.005C if you want the 5" Mk.IV's reach, high blade tension, and rapid lever tensioning with a conventional fixed blade orientation.

Choose 124.005CS if you also want to rotate the blade independently of the frame for greater flexibility with larger, complex, or awkwardly shaped workpieces.

3" CS vs. 5" CS

The 3" 124.003CS is the more compact option for smaller jewelry and precision work.

The 5" 124.005CS provides greater throat depth for larger pieces and deeper cuts while retaining the same key Mk.IV advantages of lever tension and 360° swivel blade positioning. Knew Concepts lists both models in its current jeweler's saw lineup.

Tool excellence

I usually build hefty projects and though I've looked at the knew concepts fret saw for years I didn't think I could justify it. I'm starting a jewelry box for my granddaughter out of Brazilian cherry. Her mother said a drawer would be nice and I want the drawer front to come out of the cutout for the drawer with no extraneous holes. So now I have the perfect need for their fret saw. I'm glad I waited because it's much improved. Micro-tools was great. Good price and fast secure shipping.
